Another year has come and gone. 2008 is history while 2009 is just beginning. January 1st is just another day in my book, doesn’t mean much that another year is beginning, but there are some fun things to look forward to in my book for the next year. Speaking of this year, so many people come up with a list of “new years resolutions” they plan to keep all through the year but only last for a month… maybe two… at most.
Here’s the thing about a new year. It starts on just another day. To me it doesn’t feel any different from the day before, you know… when it was 2008. I haven’t changed in the past hour it’s been 2009, nothing extrodinary has happened. I think these next few days are going to be a lot colder than it has been, but that’s the only thing that I can think of that makes it much different from 2008 thus far. When you think about it January 1st is just another day, an excuse to make silly “new years resolutions” and a reason to have a party and get together with friends.
Regardless that new years is just another day, I do have some pretty great plans for the next 365 days. I am taking the next semester off from school, which will give me some time to travel a bit! I figured since I have the time, and the money, I mine is well travel now. I already have three races planned, all in the next few months. Plus some pretty incredible road trips I am taking with some pretty incredible friends!
Normally I make new years resolutions but have found that in the past they don’t last very long. Maybe a month, two at most. (sad, i know.) I decided last year to skip out on the resolutions so that way I wouldn’t feel let down when I broke it. This year though I have decided to have one, and only one, resolution for the new year. A simple goal that I hope I can keep through out the whole year. My one and only new years resolution this year is to keep my check book balanced!! You may think it’s nothing big but… well, have you looked at my checkbook?? I looked at it right quick before the ball dropped to enter the new year and found that I hadn’t written anything in it since november, when I have written about three checks and taken out quite a bit of money. Thank goodness for online banking!!! : ) It’s still a good idea to keep a good track of how much money you have in your check book though… that’s one of the many things that I learned from my dad!
So all in all I am hoping that the new year will bring many happy moments for me, and all though it’s pretty much just another day in my book I hope I can keep that one goal of mine! Happy New Years Everyone!
